    Your Calculator Data

All calculations performed by UK Redundancy Calculator happen entirely in your web browser. Your personal information — including your date of birth, salary, employment dates, and calculation results — is never transmitted to our servers or any third party. We have no access to the data you enter.

    Local Storage

If you use the "Save" feature, your calculator inputs are stored in your browser's local storage (using the key "RedundancyCalcUK:calc"). This data exists only on your device and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings or by clicking "Reset" in the calculator. We cannot read, access, or recover this data.

    Data Retention and Deletion

Since all calculator data is processed and stored locally in your browser, there is no data retention policy applied by us — because we never retain any of your inputs or results. Any data saved via the 'Save' feature remains on your device until you choose to delete it (e.g., by clearing browser storage or resetting the calculator). If you wish to ensure all traces of your usage are removed, you can delete your browser’s local storage for this domain. We do not maintain logs, backups, or archives of any user inputs. If you ever suspect unauthorised access to your saved data (e.g., due to device theft or compromise), we recommend immediately clearing local storage and reviewing your device security settings.

    Your Rights and Choices

As all personal data is stored on your device and not by us, your rights under data protection legislation (such as the UK GDPR) are largely exercised through your control of your own browser. You have full control over what data you enter and whether to save it. You may also withdraw consent for analytics or advertising tracking at any time using the consent dialog in the footer. If you have previously shared data via the contact form, you may request deletion of your submitted information by contacting us directly — though please note that EmailJS may retain temporary logs in accordance with its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing your browser’s privacy settings regularly to manage local storage, cookies, and tracking preferences.

    Security Practices

We implement standard security measures to protect the integrity and availability of the service, including HTTPS encryption for all site traffic and regular vulnerability scanning. While our code is open and auditable (hosted on GitHub), the primary security boundary is your own device — since no sensitive data leaves your browser. We do not use server-side session storage, cookies, or third-party APIs that could expose calculator inputs. However, users should be aware that local storage can be vulnerable to cross-site scripting (XSS) if malicious scripts are injected into the browser environment — though this is extremely unlikely on a static, server-rendered site like ours. For added peace of mind, users of public or shared devices should always clear local storage after use and avoid saving sensitive calculations.

    Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymous usage statistics such as page views, browser type, and general geographic region. This helps us understand which pages and features are most useful so we can improve the site. Google Analytics does not have access to the personal data you enter into the calculator. You can opt out of analytics tracking through the consent preferences dialog.

    Advertising

We display advertisements through Google AdSense to cover the costs of developing and hosting this free tool. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your browsing history across the web. You can manage your ad preferences and consent through the privacy preferences dialog accessible from the footer of every page. Declining personalised ads does not affect the calculator's functionality.

    Contact Form

If you use our contact form, your name, email address, and message are sent via EmailJS, a third-party email delivery service. This information is used solely to respond to your enquiry and is not stored in any database or used for marketing purposes.

    Cookies

We use cookies for analytics and advertising as described above. Essential cookies may be used for basic site functionality. You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings or the consent dialog. The calculator itself does not require cookies to function.

    Third-Party Services

    • Google Analytics (GA4) — anonymous usage tracking
    • Google AdSense — advertising
    • EmailJS — contact form delivery
    • Cloudflare — hosting and CDN

    Your Rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), you have rights including: the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data; the right to restrict or object to processing; and the right to data portability. Since we don't store calculator data on our servers, there is no personal data to request or delete in relation to the calculator itself.
